Importance of thanks and smile…お礼と笑顔の大切さ

I went to the home for the aged by the welfare experience of
an integrated class of the school in the end of November,
and took care of grandmas. The talk did not run so much,
so I needed to speak in a loud voice. And the age was different,
so I had poor hearing. Because I never experience such things,
I realise that it is very hard all over again.

I experienced a lot such as a ball play and meal back in order
in two days. I was very glad to be heard, "GOKUROU-SAMA" and
"Thank you" whenever I finished each work.
Moreover, even I was able to smile because grandmas had smiled.

We are usually too natural and say neither "GOKUROU-SAMA" nor
word "Thank you" so much. However, I think that I value grateful
words and the smile knows through the welfare experience in the
life in the future.

11月下旬、学校の総合授業の福祉体験で老人ホームに行き、おばあちゃん
たちのお世話をしました。耳が遠いので大きな声で話さなくてはならず、
時代が違うので話もあまり通じませんでした。私はそんな経験が一度もなく、
改めて大変なことがわかりました。

２日間でボール遊びやご飯の後片付けなど、いろいろなことを経験しました。
仕事を終えるごとに、「ご苦労様」「ありがとう」と言われ、とても
うれしかったです。また、おばあちゃんたちが笑顔になってくれたので、
私まで笑顔になれました。

私たちは普段、当たり前すぎて「ご苦労様」や「ありがとう」という言葉を
あまり言いません。でも、私は福祉体験を通して知ったお礼の言葉と笑顔を、
これからの生活の中でも大切にして行こうと思います。
